Summer Wedding Colors

Add a special touch to your big day and include summer wedding colors when planning all the details. Select wedding color schemes for the summer that include one base color and one or two accent colors so you have a playful palette to work with when choosing decor, attire and flowers.

Wedding color ideas for summer include:

  • Pewter/Fuchsia: Pewter and fuchsia make beautiful wedding colors for summer. Use pewter as the base color and fuchsia as the accent color. For bridesmaid dresses, select pewter colored dresses and have the bridesmaids carry bouquets of fuchsia orchids. Select black tuxes and pewter colored vests or tie for the groomsmen. Pin an orchid on the jacket as a boutonniere. Print the wedding programs on white cardstock, with a pewter colored cardstock backing and tie a fuchsia colored ribbon at the top.
  • Light Blue/White: Use light blue as the base and white as the accent for light and airy summer wedding color schemes. For the bridesmaid dresses, select light blue colored dresses in fluffy taffeta fabric. Have the bridesmaids carry bouquets of white hydrangea flowers. For the groomsmen suits, select light blue colored vests or ties and pin a blue hydrangea and babies breath boutonniere on the jacket.
  • Yellow/White: Plan with the colors pale yellow and white to create a fresh and clean look for your wedding color schemes for summer. Select pale yellow dresses for the bridesmaids and accent them with a white sash made of the same material. Pick light gray suits for the groomsmen, with pale yellow vests underneath. Order bouquets of white calla lilies for the bridesmaids and white calla lilly boutonnieres for the groomsmen. Plan the wedding to be an outdoor affair under a tent with yellow and white accents!
  • Khaki/White/Light Blue: Use khaki, white and light blue as summer colors for weddings on the beach. Dress the groomsmen in khaki colored suits, white shirts and light blue ties. Select dresses for the bridesmaids that are made of a light blue linen. These two looks will create a wedding-appropriate, yet beach-casual look. Pin a white rose on the groomsmen for a boutonniere and give the bridesmaids white gerber daisies to carry down the aisle.

Add special touches throughout the wedding that reflect the summer wedding color scheme. For example, hire a lighting specialist and accent the room with one of the color scheme selections. Keep the centerpieces in line with the color scheme, and use similar flowers to those for the bridesmaid bouquets and groomsmen boutonnieres. Incorporate the colors in your invitations and wedding programs too!
